Smoking

Anyone who knows me knows I don't smoke and I don't by anymeans hate smokers themselves but I do hate the habit. I think it is nasty and I think it is selfish, and I think it is rude especially in places where people who do not choose to partake in this habit have to inhale the smoke. So in saying that let me tell you when the new law in NJ just passed saying that smoking in public places was banned I was jumping for joy. Woo Hooo, no more going to restaurants and sitting in non-smoking just to have the smoke from the smoking section float over the 4 foot sectional that the restaurant thinks makes any type of difference. Or no more going to a pizza place or bowling ally with my kids and having second hand smoke puffed into their little bodies. I especially like that there is a certain distance, I don't know what, that smokers have to stay away from the entrances of buildings when smoking. I hated leaving the mall having to run through a wall of smoke to get to my car cause 20 people would stand right out front of the doors puffing away. And people may say I'm extreme and I am mean and not caring about the rights of the smokers, but here's what I say. What about me! What about my KIDS! Why has everyone been catering to smokers for so long? Does my not smoking cause cancer for others? Does my not smoking intrude on others personal space? NO. So I say good for the government for acually making a stand for the health of the people.
Know you would think that all non smokers would be for this and all non totally against it. Not so true. Let me tell you about my Easter holiday at my aunts house. Here's how it started, wait acually before I get into how it started let me give you some background information. My grandmother used to be a chain smoker and a heavy drinker. She gave up both habits years and years ago and is now about the biggest health freak you would ever know. My cousin lives in NY and is right around my age, and she is a current smoker. So in saying that let me move onto Easter again. Me and my cousin are sitting at the counter eating our food when I over hear my grandmom going on about the new law being passed, and I thought I heard her saying something about not being for it. Knowing my gram as I do I thought I must have heard wrong. So I got into the conversation and asked her what she thought and I was shocked to hear her say she really didn't agree with the law. But her reasoning was that the government was imposing on peoples private lives. WTF??? Private lives??? It is not private when they do it in PUBLIC! And that is what I told her, and low and behold my cousin (the smoker) agreed with me. My uncle and grandmom proceeded to tell us that it would mess with the restaurant owners business, so basically they were telling me that if it messes with the owners income it's okay to kill people. Since second hand smoke is just as bad if not worse than first hand. Am I right??? I think so. Then my cousin said that they haven't been able to smoke in bars etc. In NY for years now, and people still go. What do they think if you can't smoke people are going to sit in their houses and sulk forever? No they'll get over it, if they want a drink they'll go to the bar, if they are hungry they'll go out to eat, if they wanna see girls strip they'll sure as hell go to a strip club. Yes it may be inconvenient but hopfully it'll help some quite, or at least cut back. Goodness just goes to show that you just never know what some people think, no matter how much you know them. Or think you do. She says "Then Jazz you think it's okay for the government to tell everyone what they can and cannot do?" Well NO, but I do think when it affects the entire population it is a government call. And in this case they made the right call. So hope nobody hates me for this post. But if your my friend you already know how I feel and know that even if you smoke I love you, just hate the smoke. LOL. LOVE you Holly! LOL....

Nope, I think I'm the only one in our group that does. I don't hate you either..LOL

TO be honest, it bothers me to have smoking in public places, too. Not outside of them, but inside. Like when we go out to eat. California has banned smoking inside of all builings (except for a select few, like casinos) and I rather enjoy that. I don't like my kids being exposed to it, nor do I like the smell. Strange, isn't it, since I'm a smoker? LOL

Love you, too, Jazzy-girl...

I don't like it but I don't care if people do it. they are adults and they know what's best for them. smoking in public places however does bother me because I am super sensitive to the damn smell and it makes me cry. then of course it gets all over your clothes and your hair and it's just eeeewwwww!!!!!

lol. my dad used to be a chain smoker. he was trully bad but he had to always go outside in the backyard to smoke. nowhere near the house or my mom and I would throw a fit. and forget trying to even kiss me hello. I must have been like 5 or 6 and I was already telling him to get away from me cuz he stank when he smoked. ehehehe

but now he stopped like years ago.

btw, love the blog, Imma link it. if you have trouble with the template let me know. I just realized I put Dylan's name at the bottom instead of yours LMAO. I'll fix it now and put Jazz ;)
